Spotted: A hot new Gossip Girl hookup! Katie Cassidy - easily the best thing about CW’s meh Melrose Place update – was caught making out with Chace Crawford (aka Nate Archibald) on the set of the equally campy, far superior CW series. Katie is currently filming a multi-episode arc as a Columbia student and love interest for Nate, who’s fresh off a breakup from Serena Van der Woodsen.

Thoughts on this non-Serena situation? Do you approve of Katie versus Blake Lively?

Gossip Girl centers around prep-school kids running around Manhattan with no credible authority figures in sight, and with money giving them access to things no normal teen has.

Now picture Chace Crawford’s Nate as the drug dealer serving the elite, with Emma Roberts as a more upstanding Serena, plus 50 Cent and a much grittier style of filmmaking.

Welcome to Twelve.

Crawford stars as a young drug dealer named White Mike, who peddles weed (maybe Chace was doing research this summer) and other substances to Manhattan’s wealthy kids.

Mike dreams of bigger things one day, however.

Roberts is the girl that he wants to protect from his world, and Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) is a higher-level dealer, who pushes Mike to sell a designer drug called Twelve to customers.

So as we all know Leighton attended the Teen Choice Awards 2010 yesterday! Gossip Girl won Choice TV: Drama and Leighton and Chace won Choice TV Actress and Choice TV Drama second year in a row! Congrats! Ed did not attend and he didn’t win the award for Best Villian. Guess Chuck is also not that much of a villian anymore in season 3.

More evidence that the cast of Gossip Girl is not getting along with Jessica Szohr: after a screening of Chase Crawford’s movie Twelve in New York this week, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley stayed to party with Chace on the roof of the Standard Hotel while Jessica and her friend Jessica Stam ducked out “presumably avoiding an icy reception from her co-stars,” Page Six reports.

Maybe they’re Team Ed. Break-ups are hard on everyone.

Christopher Chace Crawford, better known as simply Chace Crawford, or as Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl was born 25 years ago today. A very happy birthday to the actor!

We look forward to seeing him and those signature man-bangs in Season Four of our favorite show as well as in future film projects, as his career is clearly promising.

And in this story that we might have totally missed had it not been for Perez Hilton’s tweet yesterday afternoon: Golden heiress Paris Hilton was arrested yesterday for supposedly taking part in a “Chace Crawford” (what we’re going to call “smoking weed” from now on), but was let go earlier today after her lawyers claimed it was just another friend in her group that was toking up.

It’s not that we don’t believe Paris – after all, her entourage is huge and we can’t expect her to like, keep track of everyone- but we’re glad she’s got the money to clear up “misunderstandings” like this quickly. We know what her first prison stint in 2007 did to her stress levels, and we’d hate to have her find out what the inside of a South African jail looks like.
