Last night’s episode of White Collar ended in quite the shocking twist! But, before we get to that, let’s review what happened in “Point Blank.”

We finally got to see what was inside that music box, and of course, it was another secret code.

Neal on a Mission

Since this was the mid-season finale, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Jeff Eastin. Last year at this time, Neal was being framed and had to jump out of windows to escape from getting arrested. This year, we can only imagine what the music code means to our guys.

Probably one of my favorite scenes from last night had to be when Mozzie and Neal put together the fake case for Peter. Each part of making the case authentic was awesome. From the coffee stain to the perfume to having Mozzie serenade Neal with the Batman theme song – all had me laughing out loud.

I was happy that Fowler finally gave us (some) of the answers we have been waiting to understand. Because it was Kate’s idea to fake her and Neal’s death with the bomb, do you still think there’s a slight chance that she is not dead?

Fowler also made it clear that it was not him who she called right before the plane blew up; even though it was traced back to his phone number. So if Fowler is telling the truth, who could have made the switch of numbers on the black box?

It would have to be someone very cunning. Someone that’s always been one step ahead of our boys. Could be Julian Larson?

I just want to take this moment to make a quick shout out to all of The Gates fans out there! How great was it to see our poor, late Christian alive and doing well on another program?! And by the looks of it, Paul Blackthorne will definitely bring it when this season comes back again in January.

The final scene really left me in shock! Of course, our beloved Mozzie can’t die, but it was still quite disheartening to watch him topple over and suffer from the shot to the chest. Re-watching it, I noticed Julian getting something out of his pocket before he left him there to die. What do you think it could be?

Overall, I was happy the way the writers tied up all the loose ends, but still left us wondering what will happen next. What did you think of last night’s episode? Love it or love to hate it – let us know!

Until January, we leave you with a few of our favorite White Collar quotes below:

Peter: Did you kill her?
Fowler: No.
Peter: You’re gonna tell me who did. | permalink

Peter: Look at me Neal. Look at me. This isn’t who you are. | permalink

Neal: I have five shots left – that’s the only warning you get. Tell me why you killed Kate. | permalink

Mozzie: It’s a dark day when I turn to the system instead of recoiling. | permalink

Hale: What happened to the goatee, you know I liked it?
Mozzie: We all grow up. | permalink

White Collar Summer Season Finale Review: "Point Blank"

Her niece is in love with a vampire and her nephew wants to become a vampire.

Indeed, it should be an interesting season ahead for Aunt Jenna on The Vampire Diaries, as Sara Canning spoke to TV Fanatic this week about her role, season two – and her ultra sexy co-star. Excerpts follow…

Ian Somerhalder was named Entertainment Weekly’s Sexy Beast. How does it feel to work on set with a sexy beast now?
Isn’t that crazy? Mad props and respect to Robert Pattinson, but I was like “wow, this is a big deal.” There are a few vampires that people are in love with. I think people love Ian for different reasons. I think people really love the character of Damon, and its nice to see a vampire be allowed to be a badass because we’re seeing a lot of vampire love stories, and vampires trying to grab hold of the humanity they have left and find their human qualities. It’s refreshing to watch a destructive force like Damon. I think Ian’s perfect for the role. He’s one of the most charming people you’ll meet and then he can just turn on that crazy side as well.

What can we look forward to this season?
Without being allowed to say much, some of the major points that have been established are Katherine returning and how that’s going to affect the brothers and the entire town. Jenna has let Katherine into the house and it’s going to create a lot of tension with her and Elena because Katherine has become this puppet master and you never know who is who. Jenna is one of the only characters left who doesn’t know about the supernatural beings in Mystic Falls. For her, it will really test her as a parental figure and as friend to have Katherine messing with everyone and misleading Jenna. There are other major secrets that are being revealed.

Other than that finale scene, will Jenna come face-to-face with Katherine again, thinking it’s Elena?
Up to this point, with what we’ve been shooting, Jenna’s been dealing with Alaric and Elena and the whole fact that she’s seen who she thinks is Elena making out with Damon on the porch.

Will Jenna and Alaric’s relationship develop more?
In the beginning of the season, we’re definitely going to see some interaction with them in the sense of “where are we?” and “what are we doing?” because in season one there were so many stops and starts to their relationship and so many things getting in the way. Jenna’s had a lot of crazy guys in her life, so she’s at a point where she knows she playing an important role in the lives of Elena and Jeremy and she’s focusing on what’s right for her for the first time in her life and I think she knows that Alaric is a really great guy, but she’s not going to be the girl who sulks and waits around for him.

Jenna’s too strong of a character for that, that’s not her personality. We’re going to see some good things happen between them, but I don’t think it’ll ever be easy. Whether or not Isobel is completely out of the picture, we also have the fact that Alaric is in cahoots with vampires, and vampires that have a very strong involvement in her niece’s life and her nephew’s as well. If she ever finds out, that’s going to be a serious bone to pick with Alaric over his involvement and his alliance with them.

Does Jenna start to finally suspect something supernatural is going on this season?
I think it’s important that Elena and Jeremy have a strong hold of something nestled in reality, and I think that’s Jenna. They have so many crazy things going on in their lives. Every episode we see them go through these plot twists that rock their world… it’s a show with vampires, but it’s not a show about vampires. It’s a show about people and relationship and, yes, some of those relationships involve vampires, but I think they wanted to stick with watching these characters develop each week with dealing with heartbreak and betrayal and falling in love and the supernatural elements throws something else into the mix. I definitely think eventually, with all of her involvement with these characters who know what’s going on, will bring her to what happens, and I can’t wait to see how she deals with it because she has such a sense of adventure and she’s so open.

He may never get a movie made about him, but Aquaman is returning to the small screen.

Michael Ausiello confirms that Alan Ritchson will reprise his role as Arthur Curry (aka the aforementioned aquatic superhero) on the ninth episode of Smallville’s final season this November. The character was last seen on season eight.

Other series alums returning at some point this season will be: John Glover (Lionel), John Schneider (Pa Kent), Laura Vandervoort (Kara/Supergirl), James Marsters (Brainiac), and Michael Shanks (Hawkman).

Covert Affairs delivered an intriguing revelation to viewers this week, but it took a sloppy, clumsy episode to get us there.

Am I intrigued by the fact that Jai seems to have played some role in Ben’s disappearance and was even present in Sri Lanka years ago? Absolutely. But I wish “Fool in the Rain” had led us there in a less haphazard manner. It was probably my least favorite episode of what’s been a great first season.

Note Burning

First, how stupid are they making Annie’s sister out to be?!? It’s frustrating enough to watch a great actress such as Anne Dudek wasted in such a thankless, pointless role. But couldn’t the show at least make her the tiniest bit suspicious of Annie?

It takes very little for Danielle to buy her sibling’s story about the Iranian and his supposed connection to the museum. I’m hoping someone realizes the asset this series has with Dudek and she gets clued in to Annie’s occupation at some point. Let’s see the two of them work together on a few cases, with Annie perhaps having to lie to the CIA about Danielle’s occasional involvement.

My other episode complaint is based around the key flashback we saw of Annie with Ben in Sri Lanka.

We’ve been led to believe until now that his note/disappearance was an utter shock and mystery to Annie – but now we learn she actually witnessed him talking to some shady guy on the beach… in the pouring rain? And she never asked him about it, or wondered about this person’s identity until now?

Again, I’m interested to see where this Jai-related development goes, but the way it was fleshed out this week seemed almost random, as if the show inserted this game-changer at the last second.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Auggie and his no-longer-rogue-operation with Liza, however. But I do have a question: her response that Auggie’s information led to a dead end is meant to reveal that one of those 17 people Arthur mentioned is the leak, right?

Covert Affairs wraps up this season with a two-hour finale next week. Complaints here aside, I can’t wait. How about you?

In the wake of last week’s game-changing development of H.G. Wells being added as an agent, this episode gave us a look at what kind of toys she brings to the game, as she shows off her fabled time machine in “When and Where.”

Myka and Pete are no strangers to chasing artifacts. They are, however, strangers to 1961 where they ended up thanks to Wells (let’s call her “Helena” from now on) sending their consciousness back in time. All the little nods to the 60s were great. To wit:

Myka getting called “Doll” and “Sweetheart,” Roxanne saying “jeepers” when she was scared, and nearly everyone was smoking. The whole thing had a little bit of a Back to the Future feel to it and made me giggle several times.

Back in Time

I also really liked that paradoxes were not possible in this type of time travel. No matter how hard you tried, you wouldn’t change the past.

Granted, Myka and Pete did not put this fully to the test, but as we saw in the end, everything happened as it had originally. There was a small nod to the paradox effect with Rebecca remember waking up with Jack kissing her and, in reality, she had kissed him first because she went back to see him one last time.

Speaking of Rebecca, this is the second character in two weeks from season one that has been revisited and killed off. Last week it was Pete and Myka’s former boss, this week Rebecca shows up dying of cancer. While I enjoy that the writers are tying in characters from previous episodes, it would be nice if one could show up and not die.

Did Helena scare anyone else a little tonight? Her brief look of insanity when she was remembering what she had done to her daughter’s killer really had me worried she was going to slip off the deep end. Thankfully, she pulled it back together and was able to save Myka and Pete.

So, I understand that this is the thirteenth warehouse that has been created. As Helena pointed out, she was apprenticed at Warehouse 12. I also noticed the items from the “H.G. Wells section” had “Warehouse 12” stamped on them. I wonder if we will ever get a full history of all of the different warehouses and why the closed down and/or how much stuff got left behind.

Next week’s installment deals with Warehouse 2, so maybe I will get a few answers then. This will also be part one of the two-part season finale and I think we are in for one helluva ride over the next two episodes.

What did you think of “When and Where?” Is there a time period you would like to travel too for 22 hours and 19 minutes?

It’s easy to refer to myself as a television critic when I review shows that I don’t enjoy all that much (see: my weekly Hung reviews), but if I’m going to be reviewing Sons of Anarchy for the next 12 weeks, the correct term would be TV applauder.

With just two days to go until the season two premiere of The Vampire Diaries, fans are anxious to every nugget of information they can find about what’s on tap.

Enter Kevin Williamson. The producer spoke to Collider this week and while he shied away from any major spoilers, he revealed just enough about Katherine and Tyler and flashbacks to get us even more excited than before for Thursday night…

What can you tell us about season two?
Katherine being back in Mystic Falls is a bit of a game changer for the show. It’s about, “How is that going to affect Damon and Stefan, in terms of Katherine now being back in town?” It’s so hard to talk about it without giving anything away because it seems like everything is a surprise and everything is a twist. But, Katherine comes back and pretty much states why she’s back. It will be fun to watch that play out. If you’ve watched our show in the past, you know that there’s always more than one reason why someone is there. It’s a huge journey.

Has Katherine changed?
She’s meaner. Actually, it’s going to be interesting to watch. She’s different, in the sense that she doesn’t have to wear corsets anymore. I’m scared to say because it will tease where she’s been. What she’s been up to is a bit of a secret.

Will there be more flashback episodes?
Right now, we have one. We have three flashback episodes planned, and I’m guessing there will be a fourth.

Tell us about the Lockwood Curse.
Tyler is going to learn, through help from his Uncle Mason, who comes to town in the very first episode, who and what he is. He’s going to learn about the curse, who he is and how he responds to it.
