Spotted, a blog with nothing to lose!
Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers won their 16th NBA title, setting off celebrations throughout the City of Angels. It was a bittersweet night for a former Laker Girl, however.
Alexie Agdeppa as she became the first So You Think You Can Dance contestant eliminated by the voters this season, after the 26-year-old cutie’s spunk couldn’t save her.
The three judges, who unanimously chose to send her home, didn’t foresee a long run for the effervescent former cheerleader, even though we were a bit surprised at the decision.
After the Top 11 performances, we thought Melinda Sullivan and Adechike Torbert stood the worst chances of advancing, with Cristina Santana potentially at risk as well.
Melinda and Cristina joined Alexie in the bottom three.
It was one and done for Alexie Agdeppa and Twitch Boss.
The top 11 opened the show dressed in white and gold attire, with the guys outshining the girls as much if not more so than the night before, even during a group performance.
Based on this first elimination show of the new format, it looks like the all-stars will be on the sidelines Thursday nights. Instead, we quickly run down who’s safe and who’s not:
Alex, Robert, Lauren and Kent are safe, while Melinda has to sweat it out. Billy and Ashley are in the clear. Alexie not so much. Jose and Adechike are all good, leaving Cristina.
It’s interesting that the voters placed all girls in the bottom three. It’s not that they’re bad, but this tells you a lot about the strength of the guys, current crop and the all-stars.
After some filler – Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” performed by Karine Plantadit and Keith Roberts, “OMG” by Usher and the premiere of the video for “Somebody to Love” by Justin Bieber, the bottom three danced for their lives and we held our breath.
Melinda tapped to “I Got the Feelin’” by James Brown. Alexie chose “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” by Otis Redding. Cristina did her salsa to “La Guarachera” by Celia Cruz.
In the end, Alexie was eliminated rather abruptly.
Standard fare, but you’ve got to give Fox props for making the Thursday shows more than just a complete waste of time. Solid dancing and musical interludes all around.
What did you think of the So You Think You Can Dance results show? Did the judges make the right decision? Who do you think deserved to go home?

Glee concluded one of the most buzzed-about first seasons in TV history this past Tuesday.
But while series creator Ryan Murphy is already giving away some fall spoilers and storylines, let’s pause for a moment and look back at the wonderful season that was, via the latest edition of a TV Fanatic Report Card…
Best character: Sue Sylvester. Incredibly, she was NOT included among Murphy’s original pitch. It wasn’t until a Fox executive recommended a villain for the show that producers came up with Jane Lynch’s quip-making cheerleader coach. Can you imagine Glee without her? Perish the thought!
Worst character: Terri Schuester. The series realized what a mess it made of this individual when it aired the final nine episodes of the season, shoving Will’s unbalanced ex far to the side. But we last saw her flirting with Finn, implying that she’ll still be around next year. That’s fine, as long as they write Terri with more humanity and less, well, crazy.
Best song: It’s hard to not choose “Don’t Stop Believing” because it set the tone for the season, but my favorite Glee music selection was “Somebody to Love.” It made great use of everyone in New Directions.
Best performance: “Single Ladies.” A football team breaking it down to Beyonce, during a game in which Kurt kicked the game-winning extra point and connected with his father? Utter absurdity, truly entertaining, totally Glee.
Best use of guest stars: There were a lot to choose from. But with no offense toward Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Groban and others, Kristin Chenoweth will always have a special place in our heart. She’s adorable, she can sing (can she ever!) and we felt for a character such as April Rhodes.
Hopes for 2010-2011: We’ll expound on this below, but the show must become less preachy, less self-congratulatory. It doesn’t need to hit us over the head each week with some important message, especially when so many have been so similar (we get it, Kurt is struggling with how to be different and his dad supports him as best he can). Also: fewer pregnancies, more Jesse St. James and a chance for Will and Emma to be a real couple.
Overall grade: B+. An original concept, incredible songs, great acting. But this is still a TV show and its inconsistent storytelling must be addressed. Why did Jesse turn on Rachel? Why did Shelby shoot down the idea of one daughter (Rachel) and then jump so high at the chance for another that she legally adopted a baby? Often, Glee focused so much on its Message of the Week that it ignored basic character development and storyline logic.
Instead of trying to write layered individuals and tell stories from multiple perspectives, it too often fell back on the basic concept of underdog outcasts conquering all. Case in point, via Theatricality: Kurt’s crush on Finn and subsequent actions were absolutely over-the-line and inappropriate. Finn was right to lash out at him – but then the show tossed the word “faggy” into Finn’s mouth and twisted this storyline around to put Kurt in the right.
Glee has already created a set of characters we love. It can be a bit more subtle in the future with them. Here’s to hoping it focuses less on life lessons and more on general entertainment next year.

Glee First Season Report Card: B+
After making fun of Matt Lauer (because all 16-year-old boys know morning talk show hosts well enough to do impersonations of them, no d’uh), Justin Bieber took time from his busy Tweeting schedule to perform his single Somebody To Love on Today in front of a throng of Bieberiettes who are probably writing death threats to Meredith Vieira right now for talking to their boyfriend.

We know every week on a competition reality show is usually advertised as the “most fill-in-the-blank superlative episode ever!!!”, but tonight’s elimination on American Idol truly was one of the most shocking (and tearful) we’ve witnessed yet. Sent packing in the last semifinal round were Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, and Alex Lambert. Yes, you read that right.
True, Lilly gave one of her weakest performances of the season on Tuesday, but we didn’t even consider the fact that America would vote her out. Katelyn, on the other hand, we suspected might go. But that doesn’t mean we have to agree with it. As for the men, Todrick probably sealed his fate by delivering the recently Glee-ified “Somebody to Love” with an almost cartoon-like exuberance, but how Aaron Kelly managed to make it but Alex didn’t will continue to remain one of the greatest mysteries of life.
So, America, that means your top 12 American Idol season 9 finalists are, in no particular order, Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Katie Stevens, Lee Dewyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, and Tim Urban. Who are you rooting for? (For the record, Crushable is on Team Siobhan, until her eventual elimination because that’s how it always goes for the people we root for, on which occasion we will be switching to team Bowersox.)

Though primarily known as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester is hoping to become recognized as a singer. And she already has one big musical mentor.
“Recently I’ve spent a lot of time with Cyndi Lauper, and she’s a legend,” says the actress. “She gave me the advice: Never sell your publishing, so I’ll take that.”
The thrill of the stage has Meester – who’s worked with Lil Wayne, Robin Thicke and Adam Lambert (in addition to her hit with Cobra Starship) – hooked.
“I get more excited than nervous, and I feel like that’s the best kind of energy to have,” the 23-year-old said before her gig at Venetian’s Tao Las Vegas.
The performance, she says, is “cute, sexy … I’m just having the time of my life, and I hope it continues.” We have a hunch it probably will do just that.
Leighton Meester has made the most of her time away from the show.
Meester began her set with the Cobra Starship song “Good Girls Go Bad,” followed by “Somebody to Love,” “Playing Games” and “Your Love’s a Drug.”
After the performance, she headed to a sky box table overlooking the entire club,to celebrate her last night before heading back to the Gossip Girl set.
