Last night’s episode of White Collar ended in quite the shocking twist! But, before we get to that, let’s review what happened in “Point Blank.”

We finally got to see what was inside that music box, and of course, it was another secret code.

Since this was the mid-season finale, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Jeff Eastin. Last year at this time, Neal was being framed and had to jump out of windows to escape from getting arrested. This year, we can only imagine what the music code means to our guys.

Probably one of my favorite scenes from last night had to be when Mozzie and Neal put together the fake case for Peter. Each part of making the case authentic was awesome. From the coffee stain to the perfume to having Mozzie serenade Neal with the Batman theme song – all had me laughing out loud.

I was happy that Fowler finally gave us (some) of the answers we have been waiting to understand. Because it was Kate’s idea to fake her and Neal’s death with the bomb, do you still think there’s a slight chance that she is not dead?

Fowler also made it clear that it was not him who she called right before the plane blew up; even though it was traced back to his phone number. So if Fowler is telling the truth, who could have made the switch of numbers on the black box?

It would have to be someone very cunning. Someone that’s always been one step ahead of our boys. Could be Julian Larson?

I just want to take this moment to make a quick shout out to all of The Gates fans out there! How great was it to see our poor, late Christian alive and doing well on another program?! And by the looks of it, Paul Blackthorne will definitely bring it when this season comes back again in January.

The final scene really left me in shock! Of course, our beloved Mozzie can’t die, but it was still quite disheartening to watch him topple over and suffer from the shot to the chest. Re-watching it, I noticed Julian getting something out of his pocket before he left him there to die. What do you think it could be?

Overall, I was happy the way the writers tied up all the loose ends, but still left us wondering what will happen next. What did you think of last night’s episode? Love it or love to hate it – let us know!

Until January, we leave you with a few of our favorite White Collar quotes below:

Peter: Did you kill her?
Fowler: No.
Peter: You’re gonna tell me who did. | permalink

Peter: Look at me Neal. Look at me. This isn’t who you are. | permalink

Neal: I have five shots left – that’s the only warning you get. Tell me why you killed Kate. | permalink

Mozzie: It’s a dark day when I turn to the system instead of recoiling. | permalink

Hale: What happened to the goatee, you know I liked it?
Mozzie: We all grow up. | permalink

Her niece is in love with a vampire and her nephew wants to become a vampire.

Indeed, it should be an interesting season ahead for Aunt Jenna on The Vampire Diaries, as Sara Canning spoke to TV Fanatic this week about her role, season two – and her ultra sexy co-star. Excerpts follow…

Ian Somerhalder was named Entertainment Weekly’s Sexy Beast. How does it feel to work on set with a sexy beast now?
Isn’t that crazy? Mad props and respect to Robert Pattinson, but I was like “wow, this is a big deal.” There are a few vampires that people are in love with. I think people love Ian for different reasons. I think people really love the character of Damon, and its nice to see a vampire be allowed to be a badass because we’re seeing a lot of vampire love stories, and vampires trying to grab hold of the humanity they have left and find their human qualities. It’s refreshing to watch a destructive force like Damon. I think Ian’s perfect for the role. He’s one of the most charming people you’ll meet and then he can just turn on that crazy side as well.

What can we look forward to this season?
Without being allowed to say much, some of the major points that have been established are Katherine returning and how that’s going to affect the brothers and the entire town. Jenna has let Katherine into the house and it’s going to create a lot of tension with her and Elena because Katherine has become this puppet master and you never know who is who. Jenna is one of the only characters left who doesn’t know about the supernatural beings in Mystic Falls. For her, it will really test her as a parental figure and as friend to have Katherine messing with everyone and misleading Jenna. There are other major secrets that are being revealed.

Other than that finale scene, will Jenna come face-to-face with Katherine again, thinking it’s Elena?
Up to this point, with what we’ve been shooting, Jenna’s been dealing with Alaric and Elena and the whole fact that she’s seen who she thinks is Elena making out with Damon on the porch.

Will Jenna and Alaric’s relationship develop more?
In the beginning of the season, we’re definitely going to see some interaction with them in the sense of “where are we?” and “what are we doing?” because in season one there were so many stops and starts to their relationship and so many things getting in the way. Jenna’s had a lot of crazy guys in her life, so she’s at a point where she knows she playing an important role in the lives of Elena and Jeremy and she’s focusing on what’s right for her for the first time in her life and I think she knows that Alaric is a really great guy, but she’s not going to be the girl who sulks and waits around for him.

Jenna’s too strong of a character for that, that’s not her personality. We’re going to see some good things happen between them, but I don’t think it’ll ever be easy. Whether or not Isobel is completely out of the picture, we also have the fact that Alaric is in cahoots with vampires, and vampires that have a very strong involvement in her niece’s life and her nephew’s as well. If she ever finds out, that’s going to be a serious bone to pick with Alaric over his involvement and his alliance with them.

Does Jenna start to finally suspect something supernatural is going on this season?
I think it’s important that Elena and Jeremy have a strong hold of something nestled in reality, and I think that’s Jenna. They have so many crazy things going on in their lives. Every episode we see them go through these plot twists that rock their world… it’s a show with vampires, but it’s not a show about vampires. It’s a show about people and relationship and, yes, some of those relationships involve vampires, but I think they wanted to stick with watching these characters develop each week with dealing with heartbreak and betrayal and falling in love and the supernatural elements throws something else into the mix. I definitely think eventually, with all of her involvement with these characters who know what’s going on, will bring her to what happens, and I can’t wait to see how she deals with it because she has such a sense of adventure and she’s so open.

“Double Identity” (TV-14) (HDTV)

GOSSIP GIRL GOES PARIS! – Living out a real-life fairytale in Paris, Blair (Leighton Meester) is pursued by a handsome young man, Louis (guest star Hugo Becker), who she suspects is a member of Monaco’s royal family. A very concerned Lily (Kelly Rutherford) asks Serena (Blake Lively) to help her find Chuck (Ed Westwick), who hasn’t been heard from or seen in months. Meanwhile, Chuck Bass is as we’ve never seen him before, adjusting to a fresh start in Paris with a mysterious new woman, Eva (guest star Clémence Poésy), at his side. Juliet (guest star Katie Cassidy) offers to help Nate (Chace Crawford) win Serena (Blake Lively) back, suggesting that reigniting Dan (Penn Badgley) and Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) romance may just be the trick to remove Dan from the Dan-Serena-Nate love triangle. Matthew Settle also stars. Mark Piznarski directed the episode written by executive producers Joshua Safran and Stephanie Savage

“Do you have anything else to contribute?” My boss asked, smiling.

I looked at her, looked around the table and panicked, before mumbling something about needing to find my notes. But after all that frantic paper shuffling, followed by whatever lame idea I choked out, I realized there are way better ways for dealing with being put on the spot. Here’s how to get out while looking good:

1. Call her out—in private. Honestly, calling out an underling, especially when that person (mostly) works hard, is a bitchy move. And the best way to counterattack something so underhanded is to kill her with kindness. Shoot your boss an e-mail and tell her you were so sorry you got flustered in the meeting—then blow her away with a 10-point memo or pointed, smart convo about what, exactly, you’d meant to say. Ask her if you’d prefer if you formally prepared your remarks in the future. But do it all with a smile on your face, with the idea that you and she are trying to solve a problem together. She won’t know what to say, but chances are, she may just apologize—or at least leave you in peace in the future.

2. Play the sympathy card. This is risky, but if she’s known office-wide as a bully, and you work in one of those seemingly warm-and-fuzzy offices where people ask about your feelings and hang out on the weekends, you can play this and play this well. Widen your eyes and look really apologetic, then go in for the kill (which has to have some grain of truth for it to work. Do not lie when playing the sympathy card!) Say you’re really sorry but ever since you found out earlier that afternoon that your grandma had to be admitted to the hospital your mind’s been a blur. Or say that the last-minute conference call with the client—you know, the one your boss forced you to do—cut into your prep time but you’ll deliver a memo later. The point is, seem upset and confused and sorry and overwhelmed all at once—but do so with caution, because in some offices, if you seem overwhelmed, that’s a sign that you’re simply not mean to be there.

3. Be honest. She thinks you’re going to stumble and make up something ridiculous, so just own up and tell her you don’t know, that you feel your colleague Rachel said what you were thinking so succinctly that you have nothing else to say, or that you’re so excited by your coworker Jen’s idea that you couldn’t help thinking about it as the meeting went on. The point is, keep your excuse vague, keep it simple, and know the whole point of your excuse is to validate her observation. Yep, she was right, she wins the award for calling you out—so don’t give her the show she wants.

And next time:

4. Pay attention. Sounds simple, but I know, so so hard! A few things that help: Diet Coke, tea, coffee, or anything that gives your brain some stimulation (personally, if I have to be in a super long boring meeting, I always treat myself to a vanilla latte—it’s like a little self-reward that’ll make you happy-ish and keep you awake), make sure to pee before the meeting starts (sounds so obvs, but there is nothing worse than being part of the great ladies room stampede post-meeting) and get there a little early and snag one of the seats (one of the seats you’re allowed to sit in that is. The etiquette of conference room seating is a whole other column). Then go into a meeting with the idea that you’re going to learn one thing and contribute one thing. Sounds lame—until you’re called out as the girl with the amazing ideas!

How long before Chuck returns to New York on Gossip Girl? — Millicent
MICKEY: Not too long. He’ll be stateside by the second episode, but that doesn’t mean he’ll immediately be welcomed back into the fold. Nor does he want to be. (Aside: According to True Prep — aka the new Preppy Handbook — it’s still not OK to wear an ascot. Take that, Mr. Bass!)

You’re moved in to a dorm, you’ve made some friends, you’re sick from dining hall food.

You’re moved in to a dorm, you’ve made some friends, you’re sick from dining hall food. College is fun, now isn’t it! If you enjoy free alcoholic beverages, rowdy people, sweating and crowded spaces — it’s probably time to head to a frat party. If fraternities do not abound, the rules should apply to any rowdy gathering involving boisterous young men. And even if you’re past the freshman year prime, such guidance should serve as a good refresher course.

Be fashionably late by at least 30 minutes: Most parties are scheduled with the assumption that people will be running late. Showing up early will make you seem out of the loop. During freshman year orientation, my friends and I met a sophomore guy who invited us to a party at his frat. He told us to come by around 10, so, wanting to seem polite, we rang the doorbell just after 10. It seemed quiet, to say the least. When we asked where we could find our new friend, we were directed upstairs, only to find him walking out of the shower, wearing only a towel. We took the cue to head back later. Much, much later.

Always pregame the pregame: Don’t expect top shelf liquor at any large gathering. In all likelihood, you’ll be drinking something from a plastic bottle that’s labeled as vodka but tastes more like rubbing alcohol. Even if you can stomach the taste, the hangover will likely leave you incapacitated through the next afternoon. Not to mention, you’ll have a tough time finding anything to mix the liquor with once you’re at the party. If you can get your hands on something better before you head over to rage, definitely do so.

Be weary of Jungle Juice, or any alcoholic punch that lives in a bucket: Aside from the dirtiness factor, jungle juice (or whatever the local punch of choice may be) is pretty much the collegiate version of mystery meat.

Be careful walking down stairs: There is a big, big chance you will get pushed, or spilled on, or you may just slip. Be particularly mindful when it rains. After some inclement weather last year, I went with friends to a big party where the floors were slick. A friend of mine lingered too long on the stairway, and managed to fall down a story of steps. It was a classic scene from a teen movie moment.

Do not wear high heels: If you wear your Sunday Best to a frat party, you’re doing the opposite of playing it cool. You’ll look inexperienced and it will seem like you’re trying too hard. Also, see above: story of friend who fell down stairs.

Don’t bring a coat unless it’s a blizzard: Do you want to leave your coat behind a chair, where it will probably be ruined? Didn’t think so! Let’s also not forget the theft factor. A friend of mine thought she “lost” her coat, until she spotted another girl wearing it on the way to class.
